Ethiopia: Ambassador Teshome Toga Presents Credentials to the European Union Commission

The Ethiopian Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador to the European Union, Ambassador Teshome Toga, presented his letters of credence to Mr. Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission on Monday (February 10). Discussions focused on a number of bilateral and regional issues. Ambassador Teshome highlighted Ethiopia's sustainable economic growth and briefed the President on the current situation in the region. He assured President Barroso of Ethiopia's readiness to strengthen relations with the Commission. President Barroso welcomed Ethiopia's continued economic growth and its stable political situation. He also appreciated the role it was playing to encourage peace in the region. The EC President commended Ethiopia's contribution as Chair of the African Union over the last year, and its input in different global forums including the G-8 and G-20. He promised the Commission and Ethiopia should continue to work together on African issues.
