The UN Human Rights Council's Independent Expert and Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Sudan, Mashood Badrein, is on a ten day visit to the Sudan to examine government efforts to promote and protect human rights.
He will be meeting with Sudan's Advisory Council for Human Rights, the Ministers of Interior and Foreign Affairs as well as leaders of political parties and civil society organizations. On Tuesday (February 11) he met Minister of Justice, Mohamed Bushara Dousa, who stressed Sudan's commitment to international conventions on human rights and its cooperation with the UN Human Rights Council (UNHRC).
