14 February 2014

Two white rhinos were on Tuesday evening shot dead by poachers at Ol Jogi Ranch in Laikipia North subcounty. Ranch general manager John Weller said the animals were found dead by security guards and he believes they were killed between 3pm and 6pm.

Laikipia North police boss Benjamin Maritim said the poachers plucked a horn from one of the carcasses. "The security officers traced footprints and arrested three suspects." Mountain Conservation area KWS assistant director Aggrey Maumo confirmed the incident.
