Egypt: Shoigu - Russia Supports Egypt's Anti-Terror Efforts

Russian Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu said his country is closely following up the situation in Egypt, stressing that his country is supporting anti-terrorism efforts by Egypt and is seeking more bilateral cooperation.

"We uphold your actions to fight terrorism. We've to discuss the most important issues of military and military-technical cooperation and their future prospects," Itar-Tass quoted him as telling Defense Minister Marshal Abdel-Fatah El-Sisi.

"We watch the development of events in your country. We want Egypt to be a strong and stable state," the Russian minister said.

He promoted Sisi for being promoted to Field Marshal, saying "this is just a reward for your efforts to ensure peace and stability in Egypt," Shoigu told Sisi.

"We seek to develop military cooperation, which is deeply-rooted," the Russian minister said.

Talks tackled the possibility of holding joint military exercises.
