Kenya: MPs Paid Better Than Us, Says Ojaamong

BUSIA Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has said the salaries they are paid cannot be compared to that of MPs. "The MPs' salaries are three times what we are paid despite holding a lot of responsibilities. I was paid better while a legislator than now. Your MP (Emaase) is better paid than than me to confirm my point," he said on Saturday during an Education Day at Okatekok Primary School in Teso South. Meanwhile, Ojaamong has said he will pay school feed for a pupil at the school.

Maureen Nasimiyu scored 349 marks and was selected to join Kaimosi Girlsbefore her parents secured a chance at Lwanya Girls but still her parents could not raise the fees.

Board of Management Chairman Alfred Ogulit said it was sad that Nasimiyu was on the verge of missing secondary education. But Ojaamong who was the chief guest promised to pay the girl's fees from his own pocket saying it was unfortunate that she had failed to secure a sponsor.
