South Africa: University Entrance Requirement Must Be Reviewed

press release

The IFP calls for a comprehensive review of the university entrance point system which is used in selecting students. Many learners who have obtained Bachelor passes are denied access in our universities due to the point system.

IFP MP on Education, Mr Alfred Mpontshane said "For example there is a learner who did not get access to university because the entrance requirement for that particular university is 26 points, and the learner had 24 points, which is a 2 point difference. This needs to reviewed because there are many learners who suffer due to not obtaining the required points"
