The Council of Governors has asked the High Court to suspend the decision by the Senate to impeach Embu Governor Martin Wambora. The Council of Governors, through lawyer Peter Wanyama, sought orders to suspend special issue of Kenya gazette, which was issued by Senate Speaker Ekwe Ethuro.
The council says given that the gazette notice is out communicating the impeachment, there is a high likelihood that the deputy governor will be sworn in to office. Judge David Majanja however declined to give any orders. He directed the council to take the matter to Embu court where a similar case is pending.
