Kenya: MPs Want Stiffer Laws Against Homosexuals

Five MPs yesterday announced a joint effort to strengthen laws against homosexuality in Kenya. Kangata Irungu (Kiharu), John Njoroge (Kasarani), Clement Wambugu (Mathioya), Stephen Kinyanjui (Kinangop) and Julius Ndegwa of Lamu West have formed a caucus to push for the amendment of the laws.

"From the onset, we aver for several reasons that homosexuality is wrong, illegal and unethical. Any person promoting or practicing gayism in Kenya ought to be arrested. It is against the African tradition and illegal," said Kang'ata in a statement.
