Nigeria: My Election Was Won On the Back of Obi's Performance, Says Obiano

21 February 2014

Anambra State governor-elect, Mr. Willy Obiano, yesterday said his election as the chief executive of the state was as a result of the incumbent Governor, Peter Obi's stellar performance. Obiano spoke during a visit to the Society for Family Health (SFH), led by Governor Obi. According to him, "the governor has done well in all spheres in Anambra. He started from a no man's land and has moved the state to an enviable position it is occupying today." "Anywhere we go to, even during the electioneering, we saw all the good works he's done. As a matter of fact, this election was won at the back of his performance."

The governor-elect further explained that "in terms of economic enablers, he's done extremely well in the areas of education, health, infrastructure, security, power, things on environment among others. He informed the gathering that he would do his best to continue with majority of the programmes, adding that, "I'm revamping a few; I am going to do continuity, so there won't be abandoned projects in Anambra State." Obiano also called for the inclusion of Anambra State among the states in Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) as an oil producing state.
