Somalia: Al-Shabaab Militants Ambush Ethiopian Troops in Gedo

Al-Shabaab militants ambushed a convoy of government forces and Ethiopian troops passing through the Kured area of Gedo region, Somalia's Shabelle Media Network reported Thursday (February 20th).

Intense fighting between the two sides reportedly followed in the nearby district of Luq. The number of casualties in both incidents was unclear.

Meanwhile, Somali parliament member Mustaf Mukhtar Gudow welcomed the security operations that the Ethiopian troops have begun in Bay and Bakool regions under the umbrella of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM).
