Somalia: Mogadishu Undergoes a Security Sweep

There are reports of massive operation taking place in the last few hours by the both the Police and Peacekeeping Forces in some of the neighbourhoods in Banaadir region.

The districts that have mostly been searched by the governments forces' operation squad in Mogadishu were Bondhere, Wardhigley, Yaqshid and other neighbourhoods in Heliwaa district in the Banadir region.

During the security sweep of the city, dozens of people were captured although the Somali government officials have not yet commented on how many people in their custody following the search operations.

The security surrounding the Somali governmental institutes in Mogadishu have been significantly increased and investigative procedures are being undertaken on public vehicles at busy interjections used to enter the city like Ex-Kontarool Balcad and Ex-Kontarol Afgooye.
