Kenya: Maize Seed Shortage Irks Farmers in Kericho

Kericho farmers are worried because popular hybrid maize seeds are reportedly out of stock. Farmers said a local agent told them he had not received the 624, 628 and 6213 varieties.

"The planting season is coming to an end this month and I'm worried over failure to get the 624 variety from local agents," said Richard Sitienei. Speaking in Kericho town on Saturday, Sitienei said he may be forced to use his own maize seeds, which will result in poor yields.
