Nigeria: 'Oil and Gas Will Go Extinct'

The solid minerals sector will take the place of oil and gas if properly developed, as oil and gas will become extinct after a while, the newly inaugurated Board chairman of the National Metallurgical Development Center (NMDC) Jos, Osifo Akpata, has said.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday after his inauguration, Akpata said the switching from oil and gas to the metal industry is to end the fact that today oil and gas represents the hub of this economy and we are neglecting what will prove to be more important than oil and gas in the future - the solid mineral sector.
