Kenya: Protect Migingo, Parliament Told

The Kenya Parliament has been petitioned to immediately approve the establishment of a permanent Naval Base in Lake Victoria to protect Kenyans living and working in the islands of Migingo and Ugingo from external aggression.

In a petition filed at the office of the Clerk of the National Assembly Justin Bundi yesterday, Africa Human Rights Bureau Executive Director Dan Alila claims that Uganda security forces stationed in the two islands that fall within the Kenyan waters in Migori County, have been harassing Kenyans.
