Liberia: Premature Move? CBL Amended Act Case Enters High Court

Monrovia — Lawyers representing members of the National Legislature and that of several civil society organizations met at a special hearing in the chamber of Associate Justice Jamesetta Wolokollie over petition filed by the civil society group aimed at quashing the amended act of the Central Bank of Liberia

The hearing comes barely two weeks after both Houses of the legislature concurred to pass a bill to amend the 1999 act of the Central Bank of Liberia. In the amended act of the Central Bank the governor and board of governors are to resign their respective posts three years prior to their declaration of any political intent.
