The rigors of being an artiste/ entertainer are not only known in Nigeria; it is the world over. Despite this, some artistes make out time to help those in need. The result: they are truly appreciated. This ‘help’ may come in form of donations to the society’s less privileged or something as simple as helping out the man or woman next door.

One artiste who has stood out in this regard is Praiz Adejo. The MTN Project fame alumni and MTN ambassador recently raised N10m for a baby who needs a major surgery to close a hole in her heart. Prior to his donation, the Rn’B/Soul singer had never heard of young Somaya Olayinka Dahli. Somaya had a successful heart operation in late 2013.

Sadly, doctors informed her parents that Somaya would need post-surgery treatment, monitoring and care to remain alive. Adejo learnt of the situation and felt he could help out. “It was sad seeing Somaya go through all that pain, she’s a little girl who shouldn’t suffer like that,” he pointed out with obvious pain.

The Rich and Famous crooner offered one-month sales made from the caller tune off his single Oshé to Somaya. The total money raised in February 2014 is N10m. the money has since been given to baby Somaya’s parents.

Now, if only other entertainers who have made money off the patronage of members of the public could toe Adejo’s path, Nigeria will definitely be a better place for us all. Just saying.
