Former Transport PS Cyrus Njiru has defended the government's decision to award the Sh447 billion standard gauge railway project to a Chinese as no any other donor was willing to finance it.
Njiru, who appeared before the National Assembly Public Investment Committee that is investigating its viability and the alleged violation of procurement laws in the awarding of the tender, said that many countries and institutions were approached but none was willing.
