Angola Acknowledges Nigeria's Role in Independence

Angolan Foreign Affairs minister Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti recalled Thursday that Angola maintains a relationship of respect and friendship for Nigeria's contribution to National Independence.

The minister expressed this recognition in Abuja, Nigeria , while addressing the Summit on " Human Security, Peace and Development: Agenda for XXI Century Africa.

The summit is organised on the occasion of the 100-year anniversary of Nigeria's existence as a nation, where the Angolan Foreign Affairs minister represented the Head of State, José Eduardo dos Santos.

On the sidelines of the summit, Georges Chikoti, delivered a message from President José Eduardo dos Santos to his Nigerian counterpart Goodluck Jonathan, expressing the Angola's solidarity with brother people of Nigeria.

Friday, the Foreign Affairs minister Georges Chikoti left Abuja, Nigeria, bound for Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to hand over another message from the President José Eduardo dos Santos to his counterpart Joseph Kabila.
