The stadium that will host Nigeria's opening game of the Brazil 2014 World Cup against Iran on June 16 is still not ready as FIFA frets over construction work which is way behind schedule. The Arena da Baixada stadium in Curitiba is one of four World Cup grounds still not ready for the competition but was recently confirmed as one of the 12 host venues by FIFA. FIFA had earlier threatened to exclude it because behind schedule even more than others.
The ground is now scheduled to be completed on May 15, a month and a day before it is due to host its first group match.
