Egypt: Strategy for Agriculture Development Until 2030 Adopted in Cooperation With FAO

Agriculture Minister Ayman Farid Abu Hadid said that the Agriculture and Land Reclamation Ministry, in cooperation with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), have prepared a strategy for agriculture development until 2030.

Also, a national program was drawn from 2012 until 2017 and focused on increasing agricultural production, making use of the research applications and new technologies in light of the available opportunities, he added.

The minister's remarks were delivered by Egypt's Ambassador to Rome Amr Helmy during the ministerial meeting of the Regional Conference for the Near East and North Africa at the FAO, which is currently in session in Rome.

The agriculture sector and food production are facing major challenges on the regional and international levels, Helmy quoted the minister as saying.
