Egypt: Mehleb - New Cabinet Almost Formed

Prime Minister-designate Ibrahim Mehleb has said that a new cabinet line-up has been almost formed.

In press statements on Thursday, Mehleb said the new government is expected to take oath before the president on Saturday.

The discussions with nominees for various ministerial portfolios tackled in detail future plans for building the country, he noted.

The ministries of trade, industry and investment will be merged in one portfolio, he said.

Asked about the status of the defense minister in the new cabinet, Mehleb said "this matter will be decided by the president."
