Ghana: Airtel Ghana Suspends Corporate Relations Manager Over Controversial Facebook Post

Airtel Ghana has suspended its corporate relations manager over comments he made on his Facebook wall on February 21, alleged to be treasonable.

The comment by Mr Kwame Gyan read, "I wish we had guts like the people of Ukraine."

The statement has been the basis for many critics who called on Airtel Ghana to take action against their employee.

According to the reports Gyan has been suspended indefinitely for 30 days with his salaries withheld as management investigates the matter.

According to an article by 233 Live News, a group called Great Democrats of the ruling National Democratic Congress has been leading calls on the removal of Gyan, saying that the action taken by the management of Airtel was in the right direction and would serve as a lesson to others.

His suspension has elicited varied reactions by Ghanaians, with most of them claiming that Gyan's opinions on his personal social media platforms have nothing to do with his job.

However, an official statement by Airtel Ghana Management team has not been made yet.
