One Klerksdorp mum should be celebrating the impending birth of her baby but her excitement is tempered with anxiety as she no longer qualifies as a kidney donor for her son.
Mosidi's six-year-old son, Warona Marumo, was diagnosed with nephrotic syndrome at the age of one. The syndrome affects the kidneys, and patients can symptoms such as diarrhea, vomiting and muscle wasting. Patients may also eventually experience kidney failure. The condition often manifests in children between the ages of one and five years of age.
