Kenya: Urithi Village Building Begins

Construction of the Urithi Housing Coop Society Ltd in Juja, Kiambu county has begun. The first gated project called 'Thika Olive Villas' is situated near Mang'u High School. Society chairman Samuel N Maina said issuance of title deeds to plot owners is ongoing at the society's headquarters in Thika town.

He was speaking on Tuesday when he laid the foundation stone at the 495 Olive Villas gated project site. "The first phase of the project will include 30 demonstration Olive Villa unit," Maina said.

The project is 1.5 kilometres from the Thika-Nairobi Superhighway. Maina said it has features that include a shopping mall, common playground, street lights, live fence around each villa and solar installation.

He said once completed, members will own private villas at half the market price. Maina said the project will be completed in 2016. He said development projects around the area have boosted the project's viability.
