Liberia: Lower House Approves Watered-Down Code of Conduct

Monrovia — A Code of Conduct legislation which has been languishing in the corridors of the national legislature for months has finally been passed by the lower house which concurred with the Senate on the passage, but the final version appears to have come with a lot of moderations giving legislators a free pass on gifts to relatives and friends.

The Plenary of the House of Representatives Thursday voted to pass the code of Conduct bill with an amendment of a three-year clause regarding the years of resignation for any official of the Executive branch of government wanting to contest elections office prior to a given election year.
