Somalia: Physical Confrontations Went On for Hours Last Night in Mogadishu

According to reports from the Yaaqshid district in the Banaadir region, there was extreme fighting last night between armed groups and the forces of the Somali Federal Government.

Heads from the Yaaqshid district administration of the Somali Government have confirmed to us that there armed groups stormed a military base for the Government's troops in that district.

The fight was ongoing for at least a few hours, and it is still unknown whether there were casualties or any other losses.

The atmosphere this morning is said to be peaceful with the Government troops conducting search crackdowns in some of Yaaqshid's districts.
