Former FDC President Kizza Besigye last week invited besieged Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi to join him to fight President Museveni. The ruling party MPs have rallied behind Museveni as he accused Mbabazi of eyeing the presidency.

Besigye told journalists in Kampala that Mbabazi should never have endorsed Museveni's sole candidacy at Kyankwanzi last month. He said the democratic movement had only two options - mobilize for civil disobedience or wage war against Museveni.

"I am calling for popular defiance against dictatorship for after Mbabazi's trimming of his elective post, it is now clearer that one man is controlling every aspect," Besigye said.

When Besigye quit NRM to contest against Museveni, Mbabazi accused him of jumping the succession queue. Last week, Museveni suggested there was no such a queue, saying he would eventually name his successor.
