Namibia: Some Chiefs Snub the Return of Ancestral Skulls

SOME Ovambanderu, Nama and Ovaherero traditional leaders snubbed the ceremony to welcome the skulls of their ancestors which arrived in the country from Germany on Friday, claiming exclusion from the process.

Those who boycotted the ceremony are the OvaHerero Paramount, Chief Kuaima Riruako; Ida Hoffman, the chairperson of the Nama Genocide Technical Committe; Utjiua Muinjangue, the chairperson of the Ovaherero and Ovambanderu Genocide Foundation (OGF); and Chief Alex Kavei of the OvaHerero and OvaMbanderu from Ongama.
