Solomon Elusoji writes that with dwindling patronage, bronze makers in Benin City are giving up the trade for other lucrative vocations.

An asphalted road sprawled beyond an arched entrance. To the left is an open Bus-Park. To the right is a restaurant cum bar housed in a yellow building punctured by red windows. Beyond, moving forward, one is ushered into a world of artistic mystique. To the left and to the right of the road lie stalls displaying various forms of bronze works, glinting in the sunshine of day. Welcome to Igun Street - the home of the revered Benin bronze makers.
