Zimbabwe: Harare Teens Arrested for Making Porn

AN unspecified number of teenagers have been arrested in Harare for allegedly making and circulating pornographic material, state radio reported Saturday.

The teenagers were released into the custody of their parents following the arrests and are expected to appear in court this week.

National police spokesperson Senior Assistant Commissioner Charity Charamba confirmed the arrests adding some of the teenagers had also been involved in drug abuse.

According to the ZBC, some of youths to whom the material was circulated alerted the police leading to the arrests.

Charamba said a number of parents have recently approached the police expressing concern over the circulation of the pornographic material among children.

Under Zimbabwean law it is an offence to be found in possession of or to produce pornographic material.
