Zambia: Dad Burns Daughter Over Fish

A FIVE-YEAR-OLD girl of Mpulungu District in Northern Province has been burnt by his father over buka fish.

The, child identified as Mwila Namboa of Chipili Village in Chief Nsokolo's area in Mupulungu District, had both her hands doused with kerosene before she was set ablaze by her father.

Mwila was burnt by the father after he discovered that she had eaten the buka fish which was reserved for him in the pot.

Northern Province Police Commissioner Charity Katanga said the father, Mbilo Mbao, 35, had since been arrested while the child is currently admitted to Mpulungu District Hospital.

The police chief said the incident, which occurred on Friday last week, was reported by the girl's uncle, Happy Chikoyi.

Ms Katanga said Mwila, who was alone with her father at home at the time the incident happened, is being nursed by her mother.
