Kenya: Amos Kimunya to Be Charged Over Abuse of Office

Director of Public Prosecutions Keriako Tobiko has ordered that Former Transport minister Amos Kimunya be charged with abuse of office, fraudulent disposal and acquisition of public property.

The charges are in a connection with a 25-acre piece of public land in Njabini, Nyandarua county was part of a 75-acre piece of land belonging to the Ministry of Agriculture reserved for a potatoes seed multiplication project. It is alleged that Kimunya while he was Minister of Lands allocated the land to M/S MidlandsLtd, a company which he was a director and shareholder.

Kimunya will be charged alongside Lilian Njenga, former Director of Land Adjudication Junghae Wainaina, Chairman of the board of M/S Midlands Ltd.
