Morocco: EP Reaffirms Support for Organization of Referendum in Western Sahara

Strasbourg (France) on March 15, 2014 (SPS) - The European Parliament renewed its support to the right of the Saharawi people to self-determination through the organization of a democratic referendum in accordance with the United Nations resolutions and called on the Kingdom of Morocco to pursue negotiations to find a peaceful and lasting solution to the conflict in Western Sahara.

The European parliamentarians issued the recommendation at a session on Thursday, under the chapter of the priorities of the European Union during the 25th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, among the resolutions and recommendations presented for approval.
