Kenya: Kiambu MPs Form Council to Speed Up Roads

Kiambu county lawmakers have formed a forum to push for development through various ministries and departments of the national government.

The leaders were speaking in Kiambu town yesterday when they met county roads engineer Joseph Murage in his office. MPs Jude Njomo (Kiambu Town), George Muchai (Kabete), Kigo Njenga (Gatundu North) and Francis Waititu (Juja) said they will fast-track development. "We are here as Kiambu MPs to know the progress in roads network in the county," said Njomo, the forum's chairman. He said the other MPs from Kiambu could not attend the meeting as they were engaged elsewhere. Njomo said Kiambu MPs will work in unity to prioritise the residents' needs.

Waititu, the forum's coordinator, said they visited the county roads office to know which roads are prioritised by the county and national governments.

"We want to avoid duplication of works," he said. "The biggest challenge is road network as interconnectivity has been hampered by the rains. In two weeks time the forum will unfold the programme of roads construction to the public," said Muchai.
