Nigeria: Senate Passes Anti-Human Trafficking Bill

The Senate yesterday passed an amendment bill seeking to prohibit human trafficking, with the provision of seven years imprisonment for offenders.

The bill, which also provides for the inclusion of trafficking in persons, in human rights curricula in schools and universities, states that all acts of human trafficking are prohibited in Nigeria, adding that anyone found culpable of trafficking anyone under 18 years of age, will spend seven years in jail or pay a fine of N1,000,000.
