Kenya: Mwanzo Mpya - a New Beginning

Art is said to be any creative endeavour that makes a statement. There are no rules and it does not have to be aesthetically self-conscious. Still, most people will tell you that the more attractive an image, the longer the viewer will contemplate its significance. It seems only natural that a message is more palatable when the visual cues are easy on the eye.

At the new Shifteye Gallery at Priory Place on Arwings Kodhek, Iroko Arts Consultants have organized a solo exhibition for Kenya artist Longinos Nagilas who recently returned from Italy. Nagila has exhibited his work at the Museo Africano Verona (2012-2013) and the Galleria Grifone in Lecce (2009), but this is his first exhibition at home, in Kenya.
