Rwanda: People Themselves Are Responsible of Multi-Drug Resistant Tuberculosis- Dr. Gasana

The head of tuberculosis division at the Rwanda Biomedical Center (RBC), Dr. Michel Gasana, said Wednesday that people develop the multi-drug resistant tuberculosis due to non-compliance with TB drugs.

While doctors recommended that TB patients takeprescribed drugs every day for a period of six months, Gasana indicated that many stop taking them after some signs of diseases have disappeared, but before the disease is completely eradicated from their body. "MDR TB is caused by people," he said.
