Uganda: Visible Ghosts - How Interns Got Immigration 'Jobs'

After several years working as a clerk in the Immigration directorate at the ministry of Internal Affairs, Aisha Mulumba Mushanga was arrested in an afternoon police swoop last week for criminal trespass.

Along with 15 others, Mushanga was later detained. Many of those arrested are facing the ultimate charge of working illegally in sensitive areas without appointment letters from the ministry of Public Service. Mushanga and others were reportedly working in offices of commissioners and in the registry, cash, and passport delivery offices.
