Angola: Governor Creates Committee to Ensure Sporting Events

The governor of northern Malanje province, Norberto dos Santos "Kwata Kanawa" created an organizing commission and several work sub-commissions, with the aim of organizing sports events on Friday.

The sporting events are super cup "Joao Garcia" in roller hockey, super cup of male and female handball and basketball national championship in wheelchair, set to be held between March and May this year.

The commission, coordinated by the deputy governor for economic sector, Domingos Eduardo, integrates the provincial director of Youth and Sport (Deputy Coordinator), the chairperson of associations of roller hockey, basketball, handball and other officials linked to sport in Malanje.

The governor also set up an executive secretariat and sub commissions for accommodation, logistics, protocol, transport, public relations and beautification, sports techniques, medical care, information and propaganda.

The communiqué that reached ANGOP states that the massing of sports is a commitment of the Angolan government aimed at encouraging participation in sports, primarily by youth.
