Somalia: Somali Army Backed By AU Forces Embark to Qoryoley Town in Lower Shabelle

According to residents in Lower Shabelle region, Somali government forces backed by the African Union forces attacked the town of Qoryoley early on Saturday morning.

Heavy fighting is reportedly underway as the joint forces attempting to liberate the town from the Al Qaeda linked group of al Shabab.

There were no yet details of casualties, despite locals tell heavy gun battle and the roars of heavy weapons could be heard in the nearby locations.

Qoryole is a farmland town located in Lower Shabelle region, and now is under the control of al Shabab.
