Kenya: Fires Close Down School

THE Education ministry yesterday ordered Sameta Boys High School closed after a second dormitory burnt down on Thursday morning. Kisii county director of education Richard Ckepkawai said the school will remain closed till Wednesday.

"We have agreed to close the institution so that we can look for a place to house the affected students," he said. Speaking at the school, Chepkawai exonerated the students saying the fire may have been started by unknown people.

The second fire came a week after another dormitory was burned down. The fire started at 5pm while the students were in class for their morning studies. "We have to find ways on how to accommodate the 114 affected students who were residing in the two dormitories," said Chepkawai.
