Kenya: Death Toll in Likoni Church Attack Rises to Six

Several people have died following a shooting in Likoni, Mombasa.

The death toll in Sunday's gun attack on Joy Jesus Church in Likoni area, Mombasa on Sunday has risen to six after two more victims succumbed to their injuries last night.

Confirming the deaths, Mombasa county health director Dr Khadija Shikely said the two died while undergoing treatment at the Coast general hospital's Intensive Care Unit. She said the victims had sustained severe chest injuries in the gun attack. She added that 15 more people are still admitted at the hospital including a minor who has a bullet lodged in his head. The child's mother was amongst those who lost their lives in the attack.

Meanwhile Police have arrested over 100 suspects following a gun attack on a Church in Likoni area, Mombasa on Sunday .

A Combined team of security officers led by GSU officers mounted a massive crackdown and arrested the suspects recovering several crude weapons within Likoni area.

The attack occurred after three armed gunmen stormed Joy Jesus Church and opened fire indiscriminately at worshippers killing two on the spot while two succumbed to their injuries under treatment in hospital. Three minors were also critically injured.
