Guinea: Ebola Alert

editorial

Health authorities have sounded the alarm bell following reports of Ebola outbreak in the sub region specifically in Guinea. Considering the ease of mobility in the sub region and the ease of contracting the virus, we join the ministry of Heath and Social Welfare to caution people to observe the safety precautions and avoid engaging in acts that would easily catalyst the spread of the disease.

We also hope that the ministry of health would intensify the campaign on the mass media so that people can know their dos and donts to prevent the entrance of Ebola in the country. Those who are willing in to travel around the sub region should thereof be aware that the Ebola virus spreads very easily. Those who are unfortunate to contract the disease should also endeavor to report to the health centers on time. It is always said that prevention is better than cure; people have to be conscious of the fact that public health involves a lot of things; keeping our houses clean and dressing smartly when out on the streets are not enough. No one can be healthy if the environment remains dirty. The government on its part is doing all it can to ensure that the citizenry is healthy. It is left to the people to commit ourselves to greater responsibility.
