Ethiopia: ECX Appoints Interim CEO in Place of Anteneh

The Board of Directors of the Ethiopian Commodity Exchange(ECX) appointed Shimellis Habtewold as interim CEO as of March 21,2014. Shimellis is holding the position after the Board accepted the resignation of Anteneh Assefa, the former CEO. The latter came to the ECX since November 1,2012.

Anteneh has been serving the exchange as CEO until he resigned from his post due to health reasons. The ECX said it recognizes Anteneh's unreserved contributions for the achievement the Exchange during his leadership.

Shemeles has served the Exchange for the last six years in different capacities and was working as chief Compliance officer before his appointment to this position. The Board has commenced a search for permanent replacement, ECX announced.
