Nigeria: Anambra Guber Tribunal Admits Obidigbo's Document in Evidence

Justice Ishag Bello of the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Awka which looking into the November 16, 2013, governorship election in the state yesterday admitted in evidence the acknowledged endorsement by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on the letter sent to it by Chief Maxi Okwu as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) conveying Dr. Chike Obidigbo's name as candidate of the party in the election.

In his ruling, the tribunal chairman had after listening to arguments as to whether to admit the document or not by counsel to Chief Willie Obiano, Dr. Onyechi Ikpeazu (SAN) and that of the INEC, Ayo Ogundele, said though the court had considered the objections against the admissibility or otherwise of the document, the document had the official seal of the INEC which suggests receipt of the original document.
