Morocco: Moroccan Forces Arrest Sahrawi Prominent Activist

El Aaiun — Moroccan occupying forces surrounded Friday morning the red flats neighborhood before they stormed the house of prominent activist and former political prisoner Mayara Mujahid to arrest him and take him for questioning by security personnel.

According to our correspondent 40 Moroccan police vehicles with guns apprehended Mayara Mujahid, 37, and Hajoub Khatar, 28, after storming their home and damaging its contents.

The raid came at dawn after days of peaceful demonstrations in the occupied city of El Aaiun, calling for the independence of the Western Sahara, in which some 500 people participated.

Meanwhile, the Moroccan occupying forces have stepped up, on Thursday, its security measures in occupied El Aaiun in anticipation of possible protests against the occupation.
