Angola: Nation Recorded Impressive Investments in 12 Years - Diplomat

The 12 years of effective peace Angola is enjoying has been recording crucial advances for the country in various fields, as the Executive has made impressive investments that make the people proud.

This was said Thursday in Luanda by the German ambassador to Angola, Jorg-Werner Maquardt.

Speaking to Angop about the event (peace) that is celebrated on 4 April, the diplomat considered the Angolan Government a record breaker as it has managed to build in so short period of time important public infrastructures that are helping change the image of the country and offering a worthier life to its inhabitants.

He said God should be thanked for the 12 years of peace Angola is experiencing, adding that there should be the admission that this is a so very short time for a country that went through long years of war, with most of its infrastructures destroyed.

To him, the progresses are impressive at all levels.

Among the progresses he has noted, the diplomat mentioned the construction of the multipurpose sport pavilion, repair of the railway, improvement to the road network, emergence of urbanisations and school and hospital infrastructures, facelift of residential areas and reinforcement of aircraft fleets and hotels.

However, he admitted there is still a lot to do in the field of reconstruction, but said he believes in better organised and more developed Angola within a bit more than eight years.

According to him, he arrived in Angola in 20090 and is now impressed by the progress the country has recorded.

Jorg-Werner Maquardt on the other hand stressed that his country has been and will continue being ready to participate in the process of consolidation of peace in Angola, including in its process of national reconstruction, through financial and technological aid and cooperation in various domains.

To him, in the framework of existing bilateral cooperation, Germany can contribute to the development of the Angolan economy and society in general.
