Kenya: Reprieve As KNEC Extends KCSE Registration Deadline

FORM four candidates have an extra seven days to register for this year's KCSE examinations. The Kenya National Examinations Council has extended the registration deadline to April 7 from March 31. In a statement send to newsrooms yesterday, the council's head of public communication Fridah Were said the online registration has been congested due to last minute rush to register.

"The registration portal is up and running despite the challenges of having many schools upload data at the same time," reads the statement. Were said Knec is doing everything possible to ensure all candidates are registered. However, the deadline for this year's KCPE examination registration remains March 31.

About 850,000 pupils have registered for the 2014 KCPE compared to 835,000 in 2013 while 450,000 have registered for the KCSE.
