Kenya: Nurses Reject Dialogue Calls

Nurses in Uasin Gishu have rejected dialogue with the county government and will proceed with their strike planned for the end of this week.

Secretary general of the Kenya National Union of Nurses John Bii says the health workers will down their tools on April 5 unless their delayed three month payments are settled. "We have been up down in the county offices for the last three month and yet the county officials continue to take us for granted. We are saying enough is enough," said Bii.

Speaking in Eldoret yesterday, Bii accused the county officials of being arrogant and acting with impunity. "Its unfair to have someone working without pay yet they are expected to perform. The money is available and we wonder why the county is not paying the nurses affected," Bii said.
