Kenya: 'Sodomy to Blame' for Kiambu HIV Increase

HIV-AIDS prevalence in Kiambu county has risen from 3.8 per cent to 4.4 per cent in a year, Health executive Dr Jonah Mwangi has said. He said the increase is due to sodomy and students engaging in unprotected sexual behaviour.

Speaking yesterday in Kiambu District Hospital, Mwangi while receiving 300,000 condoms donated by Population Services International Mwangi said hard hit areas are Thika, Kiambu and Limuru towns where those at the age of 25 and young married couples were at risk. "We must create awareness of the shocking statics of the HIV-Aids pandemic," he said.
